Chris-Marine Launches Shaft Power Limitation Solution for EEXI Compliance

Chris-Marine Launches Shaft Power Limitation Solution for EEXI Compliance

Chris-Marine today announced the launch of its ShaPoLi solution. The solution will not only help customers to comply with the EEXI regulations, but also help them monitor and optimize their ship CII ratings in the future.

From January 2023, the revised MARPOL Annex VI will enter into force and all existing ships of 400 GT and above must comply with the new EEXI requirements. This means that ship owners of many thousands of vessels promptly must decide on and implement a viable energy efficiency solution to act in accordance with the new regulations.

To help its customers adhere to the new energy efficiency requirements, Chris-Marine is heavily engaged in its ShaPoLi solution. The solution, which includes both hardware and software, will enable ship owners to limit the maximum shaft power output of their vessels, without having to modify any of their existing machinery, thereby overcoming the tight implementation time frame of the EEXI requirements.

ShaPoLi will allow for real-time logging of power and speed data. In addition, it has an override function easily accessible through the command panel installed on the bridge, in case of emergencies.

Chris-Marine’s mission is to help customers optimize the running of their engines in a more sustainable way. This is accomplished by offering world class engine monitoring & maintenance products and solutions to engine builders, ship owners, shipyards, workshops, and power plants around the world.

“Chris-Marine has been in the frontline of the energy efficiency field for quite some time now and so far, supported our customers with close to 2000 Shaft power Monitoring Systems already installed onboard ships worldwide,” says Mr. Björn-Thorben Porep, Technical Sales Team Leader at Chris-Marine. “We are currently engaged in serious discussions with the classification societies to get approval of our technology, a technology that will help our customers not only to comply with EEXI, but to monitor and optimize their ship CII ratings in the future,” Mr. Porep adds.

Chris-Marine Launches Advanced Camera for Cylinder Liner Condition Monitoring

Documents cylinder condition in 15 minutes only, without removal of cylinder cover or exhaust valve housing

Malmö, Sweden – September 25, 2019 – Chris-Marine AB today announced the launch of its Cylinder Liner Condition Camera, LCC. LCC is used for in situ photography of the cylinder liner walls and the exhaust valve in 2-stroke engines.

LCC provides images from BDC (bottom dead center) to TDC (top dead center). The images captured by the camera are used to evaluate cylinder condition parameters like presence of cylinder honing marks and wave-cut groove extension, black lacquering and bore polish, size of cylinder wear edge and cleanliness of ring land. In addition, the pictures can be used to inspect exhaust valve, fuel injector valves, lube oil injection area and start air valve.

“The launch of our Cylinder Liner Condition Camera LCC is an important step for us and for our customers,” says Alexander Malt, Global Sales & Marketing Director at Chris-Marine. “We know that at least 10% of newbuildings need to have their cylinder liners replaced already before the first dry-docking, a costly consequence of failing to keep the liners in top condition. However, this problem can easily be prevented and that’s where our camera comes into play. LCC detects and documents abnormal surface conditions and helps the engine crew determine if measures need to be taken. By monitoring the condition of the liner regularly, severe damage to the engine can be prevented and unnecessary investments avoided, Alexander Malt continues.”

Chris-Marine extends its product range with two new cleaning chemicals

Malmö, Sweden, April 11, 2017 – Chris-Marine AB today announced that it is introducing two new ultrasonic cleaning chemicals, Ultra Rinse Engine and Ultra Rinse Intercooler, to optimize the efficiency of ultrasonic cleaning even further. The new cleaning chemicals have been specifically designed for ultrasonic cleaning and fulfil the cleaning requirements of industrial companies, workshops, power plants and marine industries.

Ultra Rinse Engine is a high alkaline cleaning chemical suitable for the most challenging cleaning tasks. It is ideal for cleaning steel, stainless steel and cast iron components that are highly exposed to heavy fuel oil, or for removal of fuel, coke, soot and paint. The product contains a tenside mixture which combined with a builder system makes the product suitable for immersion cleaning and spray cleaning.

Ultra Rinse Intercooler is a high alkaline cleaning chemical suitable for all types of metals including aluminum, titanium, brass and copper, enabling efficient cleaning of intercoolers and turbo parts. The product contains a tenside mixture which gives the product highly effective demulsifying properties, whereby oils and fats can be easily removed using an oil skimmer or oil separator.

”Ultra Rinse Engine and Ultra Rinse Intercooler complement Chris-Marine’s portfolio of products and services and will further strengthen Chris-Marine’s position as a leading supplier of state-of-the art products and methods for maintenance of combustion engines,” says Dennis Karlsen, Area Sales Manager, Chris-Marine/IOP Marine.

Ultra Rinse Engine and Ultra Rinse Intercooler are synergistic blends that enable rapid penetration and removal of deposits that are normally resistant to acid-based cleaning. The products are powder-based which gives a low dissolution rate. Thanks to their smaller volume, they are easy to store and transport.

Ultra Rinse Engine and Ultra Rinse Intercooler are available for sale at a price of 225 euro per 25kg. If bought together with a Chris-Marine Ultrasonic Cleaning System, the price is 195 euro per 25kg.
