Ultrasonic wind speed and direction measurement.
Chris-Marine now offers an Ultrasonic Anemometer. The measuring principle of the ultrasonic wind sensor enables inertia-free measurement of wind with high precision and accuracy.
The ultrasonic anemometer has no moving parts which greatly increases reliability whilst allowing accurate measurement even in very light winds. The wind sensor is seawater-resistant and designed without moving parts.
Wind speed and direction
The wind measuring element utilizes four ultrasonic sensors that capture cyclical measurements in all directions.
The ultrasonic sensors determine the virtual temperature based on the physical relationship between the velocity of propagation of sound and the air temperature.
