Thank you for visiting us at SMM 2026

SMM closed in Hamburg on 4 September. We spent four days in Hall A3, Stand 402, and we met superintendents, chief engineers, fleet managers, agents and partners from across the industry. Thank you to everyone who came by. The stand was busy from Tuesday morning to Friday afternoon, and the conversations were the reason the week was worth it.

Here is what was on the stand, and what we took away from it.

Engine Insights

Engine Insights was the centre of our stand. It takes cylinder condition data from an inspection and turns it into a structured assessment with clear recommendations for the next step. Visitors could work through the product material on the stand kiosk and see how an inspection result becomes a decision about honing, liner replacement or continued running.

Two things came up again and again in those conversations. The first is that inspection data is being collected on more vessels than ever, but it is not always turned into a decision anyone can act on. The second is that engineers want the reasoning behind a recommendation, not just the recommendation. Both points match what we built Engine Insights to do, and both will shape what we do with it next.

Machining equipment

Our machining equipment was on the stand alongside Engine Insights. This is the part of the business that has been in the field the longest, and it remains the reason many visitors know the Chris-Marine name. Valve seat and valve spindle machining, cylinder liner honing and grinding, all done on board without removing components from the engine.

The questions at the stand were practical. Which tool fits which engine type. What the operator actually has to do on board. How quickly a machine can be back in service after a repair. Those are the right questions, and they are easier to answer standing next to the equipment than over email.

Service and support

We also brought engineers to the stand, not only sales people. That was deliberate. A trade fair is one of the few times a year when the person who does the work on board and the person who supports that work can talk face to face without a job running against the clock.

If you did not get the answer you needed in Hamburg, or if you left with a question that came to you afterwards, we can still pick it up. You can book a conversation with one of our engineers through our SMM page, or write to us directly and we will route it to the right person.

What happens next

We will follow up on the leads and conversations from the show over the coming weeks. If you spoke to someone at the stand and expected to hear from us, and you have not, please contact us so we can find it.

SMM comes around every two years. We will be there again. Between now and then, the work continues on board, and so does ours.
