Why purchase new liners when you don’t have to?

Careful and regular cylinder condition monitoring and reconditioning significantly cuts liner cost and is a more environmentally friendly alternative. Following the introduction of the low-S legislation, many shipping companies are facing huge challenges with the condition of their cylinder liners. They report increased liner wear and piston ring wear, which of course is of concern when it comes to liner life expectancy.

Chris-Marine’s cylinder condition monitoring portfolio allows for time-effective collection of cylinder liner data and piston ring data. Included in the portfolio are tools to measure liner diameter and coating thickness, a liner condition camera, and a replica analysis kit that takes an imprint of the liner.

Time is limited for the crew members operating vessels. That’s why we have made our tools as user-friendly as possible. Interpreting data can be a bit more difficult, and we have therefore introduced a reporting service that allows customers to collect data on their own and send it to Chris-Marine for processing. When we have analyzed the collected data, we revert with a report summarizing the findings.

With the help of Chris-Marines reconditioning portfolio, identified problems can be rectified. The portfolio includes grinding and machining tools for cylinder heads, cylinder liners and sealing surfaces.
