Ultrasonic Cleaning Chemicals

Our cleaning chemicals have been specifically designed and developed for ultrasonic cleaning methods and they enable enabling rapid penetration and removal of deposits.

Honing Liquid

Honing liquid prevents residues from clogging the honing stones and thereby ensures a smooth and efficient honing process.

Grinding Wheels

Choosing the right grinding wheels for a specific job is the key aspect for achieving superior grinding results. Therefore, the Chris-Marine grinding wheels have been carefully selected, tested and proven for each type of metal alloy, surface finish and workload.

Honing Stones

Honing time and stone consumption increase with cylinder diameter and stroke length. Because of this it is very important to select the right honing stones. We offer two types of honing stones: diamond stones and ceramic stones.

Diamond stones

Diamond stones have superior endurance and remove material faster than ceramic stones. They are therefore suitable for coarse honing of large engines or highly worn smaller engines.

Ceramic stones

Ceramic stones provide superior oil retaining properties for the cylinder liner and are therefore mandatory when finishing the running surface structure.

Turning Bits

The turning bits for our portable lathes are supplied in different shapes and qualities. Each type has been carefully tested to give the best result when it comes to performance, lifetime and surface roughness.

Questions and Answers

Questions and Answers

Q; My HPU/VPU pump is not building enough pressure, what could be the reason?

A: A common root cause for the pumps not being able to build pressure is that a seal/o-ring is damaged. In the spare parts list for your unit, you will find information about the hydraulic and pneumatic seal kits. These include the most frequent parts that get worn out and needs to be changed. Note that there might be other causes to the pump not building sufficient pressure.

Q: We need to test Wärtsilä injectors 32DF, 34DF, 46DF, 50DF, and we need a trigger box. What capacity do we need?

A: Chris-Marine’s trigger box STB with 24 V DC is enough to test the Wärtsilä injectors even if the injectors have higher trigger pulse frequency than 24V. Learn more about STB here: Single Trigger Box / STB – Chris-Marine

Q: I don’t have the resources to invest in a new engine maintenance machine. What are my options?

A: We have machines available for rental based on your needs. You have the possibility to tailor your package of machine(s) and accessories to fit your exact needs.
If you need to rent a Chris-Marine machine that you are not experienced with, we instead recommend that you hire one of our skilled Service Technicians to do the job for you. In this way, you will get the job done while learning how to so it from an expert. Contact our Aftersales team for more information: Contact us for Technical Support and Aftersales – Chris-Marine

Q: The digital instrument on my VPUD-machine shows a pressure even when the relief valve is completely open. What can I do?

A: Try performing a “zero-adjustment” according to the instructions in the manual. If it does not solve the problem and everything else seems to function properly, the digital instrument might need to be replaced.

Q: My air driven honing machine (HON S) does not rotate as it used to. It has been stored for a couple of months without being used, last time we used it there was no problems at all. What can I do to get it running again?

A: When the honing machine is stored for a long period of time, without being used, the vanes in the air motor can swell and get stuck in the rotor. When this happens, you need to change the vanes. In the spare parts list for your machine, you will find different types of repair kits and their part numbers for ordering.

All Chris-Marine machines can be serviced by our professionals in one of our workshops, either in Sweden, Denmark, or Germany, depending on the machine type.

Q: I am going to hone a 4-stroke cylinder liner, which honing stones should I use for the optimal result?

A: For honing of 4-stroke cylinder liners we recommend using the following strategy.

  1. Part no. 11373-30-07 initially, a diamond stone is used for removing wear edge, micro-seizures and surface glazing and for providing a well-de ned starting surface for the next step.
  2. Part no. 11373-20-01 A rough ceramic stone is then used for removing smeared liner particles from the diamond stone and for giving the surface excellent oil-retaining properties.
  3. Part no 11373-20-36 Finally, a fine ceramic stone is used for removing edgy peaks from the surface while sustaining the good oil-retaining property of the surface

Do not forget to clean the liner using cleaning brush B099N001.
