How the Diesel Engine Combustion Chamber Tester Works:

The DEC-TESTER operates by connecting its outlet to the indicator clock of the engine cylinder to be monitored, with the piston at TDC (Top Dead Center). The DEC-TESTER inlet connects to an air pressure supply (6-8 bar). The device then regulates the pressure to a predefined level, and measures the pressure difference over an internal orifice, as air flows into the combustion chamber.

  • The air flow rate or DEC-TESTER value indicates the condition of the combustion chamber. The more worn the combustion chamber, the higher the DEC-TESTER value.
  • This method, used by chief engineers for years, has been enhanced with precise internal pressure regulation, significantly improving the accuracy of the readings.

Achieve Savings Through Regular Condition Monitoring:

Factors like fuel type, lube oil type, load patterns, and ambient temperature, influence engine wear, and they can lead to significant variations in wear, even for engines of the same type. Therefore, hourly-based overhaul intervals may not be the most cost-effective approach.
