Portable Hydraulic Power Unit for Marine and Industrial Engine Maintenance

Powerful hydraulic tools require reliable power sources. In cooperation with MAN Diesel, Wärtsilä and 2-stroke engine owners worldwide, Chris-Marine has developed a range of mobile Hydraulic Power Units, HPU. The units are delivering up to 5 times the normal speed when needed, while fulfilling the requirement for pressures above 3000 bar. 

A HPU unit from Chris-Marine can loosen a cylinder cover on the world’s largest diesel engines in less than five minutes. The units are not only suitable for closed-circuit tools, but can also be used for floating of camshafts as well as opening of SKF couplings. Special operation modes make it possible to operate several types of tool series safely with one unit only.

Chris-Marine’s Hydraulic Power Unit (HPU series) is a compact, portable power pack designed to deliver reliable hydraulic power for a wide range of marine engine maintenance and ship repair equipment. Built for marine diesel engines, offshore, and industrial environments, the HPU is the ideal power source for onboard and workshop-based machining tools and cylinder head repair tools.

Available in ten configurations, HPU ensures smooth operation of critical maintenance tasks such as valve maintenance solutions, onboard machining, and other marine engine overhaul kits. The unit supports efficient and precise repairs, contributing to improved engine performance and condition-based maintenance solutions.

Whether servicing ship maintenance equipment, supporting power plant maintenance tools, or enabling onboard equipment calibration, the HPU delivers high-pressure hydraulic power exactly where you need it.

Pneumatic-hydraulic power supply for hydraulic tools 

  • For operation of engine hydraulic tool series, i.e. hydraulic jacks
  • Internal pump(s), high-pressure pipes, connections, gauges etc are of top technical quality
  • A series of power units covering most needs for most engines
  • Can be adapted for special applications like opening SKF couplings, opening/separating turbo chargers etc.
  • Twin-pump models drastically reduce pumping time with about 80% of normal time
  • Typical pumping time for a cylinder cover will be 2-6 minutes depending on engine size
  • Hydraulic pressure up to 3,500 bar @ 7bar air inlet pressure
  • Flow rates up to 1.9 l/min
  • Adjustable maximum outlet pressure for tool protection
